referencing the striking two rows of sphinxes that guard the entrance.Deities: The temple is dedicated to the gods Amun-Ra and Ra-Horakhty, as well as the deified Ramesses II himself.Christian Transformation: During the 5th century AD, the inner sanctuary was converted into a Christian church. Plaster was applied to cover ancient reliefs, which inadvertently preserved the vibrant colors seen today.
